Lead Doorman - Embassy Suites Grand Rapids Downtown

Position Summary

Responsible for the oversight of valet operations as well as facilitating the arrival and departure of all guests of Embassy Suites and Big E’s Sports Grill according to Suburban Inns’ Core Values and Suburban Inns/Hilton standards, going above and beyond to ensure that guests are 100% satisfied.


Essential Functions:

  • Report to work in professionally appropriate attire, presented neat and clean
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, positive manner.  Ask questions of guests and make personal connections to make them feel they are welcome and valued
  • Maintains and balances cash bank accurately at the issued amount at the end of each assigned shift.
  • Supervise valet runners to ensure that they are adhering to all hotel policies, procedures, regulations and standards, while striving towards total guest satisfaction
  • Assist with overseeing cashier operations
  • Ensure that valet operations are working in a professional manner at all times
  • Monitor labor expenses and make cuts when needed
  • Be prepared to perform all parking functions, including greeting guests, parking and pulling guest vehicles, and cashier responsibilities
  • Assist in the training of Lead Doorman/Valet Runners/Cashiers on a daily basis
  • Ensure that work area is always clean, organized, and guest items are secure
  • Address guest concerns in a professional manner
  • Ensure smooth arrival and departure experience for all guests
  • Ensure that all parking equipment is running smoothly.
  • Assist with guest requests and opportunities to ensure guest satisfaction is met
  • Maintain knowledge of all aspects of hotel, parking rates, events in house, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of community and make recommendations to guests to ensure the best experience
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the lobby area
  • Develop knowledge about frequent guests and their special requests and needs
  • Be familiar with all emergency procedures
  • Ensure that all supplies are well maintained
  • Anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of our guests, then go one step further
  • Ensure QA compliance with Hilton/Embassy Suites standards
  • Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records


Position Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge:        Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions.  Requires typing, record keeping, and/or word processing.  Good communication skills

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: None

License, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Excellent driving record, valid driver’s license.
