* Host Shifts: 2nd

* Host Wage: Starts at $10.10/hr plus tip pool

* Host Position can be used as an internship

Host Position Summary:

Responsible for providing a warm welcome and a thank you to all guests, as well as coordinate the flow of the guests throughout the sections of the restaurant in an organized and timely fashion while following Suburban Inns’ Core Values, local health department, and Suburban Inns/Big E’s standards, as well as going above and beyond to ensure that guests are 100% satisfied.

Host Essential Functions:

  • Greet all guests in a friendly, positive manner.  Ask questions of guests and make personal connections to make them feel they are welcome and valued
  • Welcome each guest as they enter, and thank them as they leave, holding the door as often as possible
  • Seat guests at suitable tables for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of tables
  • Pre-bus, clear tables, and wipe them down
  • Wipe down menus
  • Answer phone calls, take reservations, and to-go orders
  • Check to make sure restrooms are presentable, stock/clean as needed
  • Make sure that host stand is always stocked (crayons, kid menus, menus, etc.)
  • Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records
  • Other duties as requested by management

Host Position Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge:  Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions.  Good communication skills

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: None

License, Registration, and/or Certification Required:  None

Work Schedule: Work regularly requires or varies between day, evening, night, holiday, and/or weekend assignments.  Schedule varies according to business demands and needs

Required Travel: Position does not require travel to other Suburban Inns properties or client locations.  Work is completed on the property.

Host Uniform and Appearance Guidelines:

Uniform: Uniform shirt and name tag provided.  Suburban Inns approved blue jeans, and black, close-toed, non-slip shoes are the responsibility of the Team Member. 

Appearance: Hair must be kept well-groomed. All facial piercings and tattoos that are not covered by a work uniform must be approved by management. Any tattoo that is deemed offensive to co-workers, guests, vendors or others in the workplace based on racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or other characteristics or attributes of a sensitive or legally protected nature are not permitted and must remain covered or concealed at all times. This policy will be administered by the position’s supervisor, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, height, weight, genetics, familial status, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. The Vice President of Operations has the authority to veto any decision made by the position’s supervisor.
