Position Summary

Our Restaurant Managers are the SOUL of the management team. As a manager for Big E’s your goal is motivating and coaching the hourly team, running stellar shifts, and ensuring each guest has a unparalleled experience. Assure a high standard of appearance, hospitality, and service in personnel, as well as cleanliness of the dining room.  Supervise, train, and coach dining room staff while following Suburban Inns’ Core Values and local health department standards.

 

Essential Functions

  • Report to work in professional attire, presented neat and clean
  • Be able to directly supervise departments in the restaurant. Run it like you own in mentality.
  • You lead from the front and the set the upbeat and fun pace of the shift.
  • Your office is “on the floor” to help drive staff engagement creating the ultimate guest experience.
  • Be able to coach the team on best practices through one on ones and on the floor direction.
  • Inspect dining room employees to ensure that they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times We strive for 100% table touches. Mayor of the town mentality.
  • Assure that all running and closing side work is completed by our hourly team for smooth transition of shifts.
  • Direct pre-shift meetings with dining room personnel.  Relay information and policy changes
  • Assure the correct appearance, cleanliness, and safety of dining room areas, equipment, and fixtures. Check the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and report deficiencies and maintenance concerns
  • Make suggestions about improvements in dining room service procedures and layout Assure that the dining room areas are secure at the end of the business day
  • Make service recovery decisions
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings
  • Taste and consume alcohol for company business, limited at the discretion of the General Manager
  • Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records
  • Be able to multitask with many different moving distractions.
  • Ability to be able to complete tasks on time.
  • Ability to complete inventories, complete orders, and communicate with vendors

 

Position Requirements

Minimum Knowledge

Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions. Requires typing, record keeping, and/or word processing skills.  Good communication skills

 

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience

This position requires a minimum formal education of a high school diploma or equivalent related experience Minimum of one year restaurant management experience

 

License, Registration, and/or Certification Required     

ServSafe Alcohol or TIPS Certification

This job is part of a formal work team as working closely with the management team and directly supervising the hourly restaurant team.

Significant portions (more than 50%) of daily assignments involve prolonged standing, transporting material or equipment, or lifting, moving, or carrying heavy (over 30 pounds) materials for intermittent periods throughout the day

 

Physical Environment

Significant portions (more than 50%) of daily assignments involve exposure to dirt, odors, noise, or temperature / weather extremes.  Working surfaces may be un-level, slippery, or unstable

 

Work Schedule

Work regularly requires or varies between day, evening, night, holiday, or weekend assignments. Schedule varies according to business demands and needs

 

Occupational Risks

Significant portions (more than 50%) of daily assignments involve occupational risk, such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, injuries from falls, or back injury sustained with assisting in moving, lifting, or positioning equipment or materials

Significant portions (more than 50%) of daily assignments involve ergonomic risk, such as regular repetitive tasks, forceful or prolonged exertions of the hands, vibration, cold temperatures, heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, or carrying of heavy objects, poor body mechanics, restrictive workstations, or awkward postures

Responsible for adhering to all safety policies and procedures of Suburban Inns

 

Required Travel

Position does not require travel to other Suburban Inns properties or client locations. Work is completed on the property

Visible earrings are allowed in the ears only, or must be covered throughout the course of the shift. Hair must be of a natural color, and kept well-groomed.
